Recipes and Tips

We are often asked for suggestions for dipping sauces for our products. Here are a few of our favourite recipes.

MINTED YOGHURT DIPPING SAUCE

  • 1 cup natural yoghurt,
  • 2 tsp fresh chopped mint,
  • 1 tsp lemon juice,
  • pinch each of ground coriander, cumin and salt.

Method:

Mix all ingredients together and chill for at least 1 hour.

This dipping sauce is excellent as an accompaniment to our Samosas, Roti, Moroccan Lamb and Lamb with Oregano and Lemon Kofta.

TOMATO CHUTNEY

  • 1.25 kg ripe tomatoes,
  • 125 gm sliced onion,
  • 1 tsp curry powder,
  • 1 tsp mustard powder,
  • 125ml red wine vinegar,
  • 125gm sugar, salt.

Method:

Skin and seed tomatoes, sauté onion add remaining ingredients and cook on low heat for approx 1 hour.

This dipping sauce goes well with all Empanada and Quesadilla varieties. It also is great with Sausage Rolls and Mexican Beef Kofta.

GINGER SOY DIPPING SAUCE

  • 1 cup light soy,
  • 2 tsp grated fresh ginger,
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame seeds,
  • 1 tbsp Thai sweet chilli sauce or palm sugar.

Method:
Combine all ingredients chill for at least 1 hour.

This sauce is excellent for all of our gyoza and wonton varieties.

unnamedCITRUS SOY (PONZU) DIPPING SAUCE:

  • 1 cup Lemon Juice,
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar,
  • 1 cup dark soy,
  • 2 tbsp tamari,
  • 3 tbsp mirin,

METHOD
Combine all ingredients chill for at least 1 hour.

This sauce is excellent for all of our gyoza and wonton varieties.
